BACKGROUND
The Cobb All-Star Senior Bowl is collaboration between the Cobb County Touchdown Club, and Xecute Consulting Partners. The Cobb County Touchdown Club’s membership consists of head football coaches from 20+ public and private high schools in the Cobb county Georgia area. The CCTDC acknowledges and supports excellence in sports and academics with a series of awards banquets each football season.
Xecute Consulting Partners is a Marietta GA firm operated by the husband and wife team of Michael and Martha Siano. Michael is a Syracuse All-American wide receiver with receiving records still standing, and who broke all of Art Monk’s receiving records while playing at Syracuse from 1982-1986. Today Michael is a local chiropractor who works with high school sports programs. Martha is a former sales and marketing professional with over 20 years of experience in marketing and business development. She was the President of the East Cobb Civic Association, the largest civic organization in the metro Atlanta area from 2003-2006, and is a member of Congressman Tom Price’s Advisory Council. Combining their two backgrounds, the Sianos have developed several high school programs including the Cobb Senior Bowl and the Georgia All-Star Lacrosse Classic, and in September of 2008 launched the American Youth Council, Inc. a Georgia 501 (c)(3) corporation. Through this non-profit, the Sianos will continue to develop high school programs for the recognition of student success, and also to develop a new program G.O.A.L.S. (Going Above and Beyond in Leadership & Service), which will provide athlete accountabiity programs through Service Learning.
EVENT FORMAT
The Cobb All-Star Senior Bowl is conducted in a week-long ‘Superbowl’ format. There are several days of practice and team meetings to familiarize the players and coaches from the 21 schools with each other. There is an outing with Special Needs children and the players, which provides inclusion of the Special Needs children in a sports event, and introduces the players to the social sensitivities of involvement with these children.
On opening day there is a kickoff mini-camp with team meetings, invited speakers, and sponsor previews. In the evening the 100 players serve at the Holiday For Hope event, a Christmas party for 1000 homeless and economically disadvantaged children.
On the day of the game, there is a festive atmosphere with professional photographers, news coverage, sponsor banners and tents, and a marching band and a VIP hospitality suite.
There is a pre-game brunch with the players and a motivational speaker from the professional sports community, serving 400 which includes the players, their parents, the coaches and their staffs and spouses and local dignitaries, and an induction into the Cobb Senior Bowl Coaches Hall of Fame.
